On August 9, Unilumin Technology released the "2021 Semi-annual Report".
The report shows that in the first half of the year, Unilumin achieved total operating income of 2.932 billion yuan, an increase of 57.57% over the same period of the previous year; the net profit attributable to the owners of the parent company was 0.91 billion yuan, compared with the same period last year. Compared with an increase of 14.38%.
Reasons for performance impact
Zhou Ming stated that the main reasons for the performance impact are as follows:
(1) In the first half of the year, domestic demand for LED applications was strong and orders were sufficient. However, due to the supply of upstream materials, Unilumin's production and shipment failed to meet the order demand, which affected revenue and profits.
(2) Due to the continued impact of the overseas new crown pneumonia epidemic, the growth rate of overseas revenue has slowed down, while domestic orders have grown rapidly, and the proportion of overseas revenue has fallen from the same period last year, which has a structural impact on the level of gross profit margin.
Judging from the data released by Unilumin, the amount of R&D investment in the first half of 2021 is 127 million, which is mainly derived from the active layout of the cutting-edge technology of LED displays. It is also worth mentioning that while operating income has increased, operating costs and sales expenses have also increased, mainly due to the expansion of business scale and the expansion of the market.
Among them, financial expenses due to exchange rate changes have increased significantly, reaching 784.52%, mainly due to exchange rate changes. In the first half of the year, Unilumin’s domestic sales volume of smart display products was 273,985.13 square meters, accounting for approximately 81.7% of the total sales. Overseas, the sales volume in Europe is 18197.67 square meters, the Americas 15326.22 square meters, and Asia and Africa total 25450.14 square meters.
Operation in the first half of the year
In the first half of the year, Unilumin’s smart display products had the highest operating income, reaching 2.505 billion yuan, accounting for 85.4% of the total revenue, an increase of 59.79% year-on-year. In terms of sales area, the domestic East China region has the highest operating income, about 616 million yuan, followed by the South China region, about 401 million yuan.
Among smart display products, Unilumin’s main products have a pitch ranging from P1.5 to P80, involving multiple application areas. The pitch of professional display products is mainly below P2, commercial display is mainly P1.5～p16, and rental display is P2～P6. Mainly, sports display is mainly P2～P16, and creative display is mainly P2～P80.
Smart display products have a wide range of applications, including professional display security, transportation, energy, dispatch command centers, etc.; commercial display optoelectronic media, corporate conferences, exhibitions, theaters, outdoor media, etc.; rental displays include stage performance, film and television production and other fields ; Sports displays include football, basketball, tennis, ice hockey, equestrian and other stadiums and large-scale events; creative displays include urban building facades, sky screens, museums, libraries, commercial complexes and other fields.
Market layout
In the first half of the year, Unilumin further strengthened its market layout.
Since the second half of 2020, the prosperity of the LED display industry has improved, and the application industry is rapidly penetrating into the 100 billion-level application market space. In the context of the rapid development of the industry, the concentration effect of leading companies has accelerated significantly.
Relying on the technology and product advantages accumulated over the years, Unilumin has formed a new commercial complex light display solution that integrates LED application hardware, display control operation and maintenance software, creative content, and intelligent interaction. Immersive space, light display interactive experience, XR commercial application and naked eye 3D creative content full scene, one-stop service, and created a large number of successful cases.
During the reporting period, Unilumin's UC-A41 LED cinema screen successfully passed the inspection and test of the DMC Institute of Keio University, Japan, an authorized DCI organization, and officially obtained the Hollywood DCI certification. It marks that Unilumin has become the first company in the domestic LED display industry to pass this authoritative certification.
With regard to Mini LEDs, Unilumin succeeded in breaking through the precise grasping die-bonding technology through continuous technological improvement and technological innovation, and launched a new generation of UMini display product-UMiniⅡ, which achieved a further leap in key technical indicators and performance.
In the first half of the year, Unilumin’s expanded 5 Mini LED production lines have been put into production. In the second half of the year, the company’s Mini LED display industry base will be gradually put into production to further support the company’s Mini LED market sales.
Unilumin provided the Pixomondo virtual production studio with approximately 1,040 square meters of LED products. Not only that, in the first half of the year Unilumin created a number of naked-eye 3D projects such as "Light and Shadow 3D Yaowei Harbor"; XR virtual production has cooperated with Oscars and Ai Pixomondo and other well-known companies such as the United States award; in sports events, it provides LED scoring screens and display and control solutions for the FIBA Women's Basketball European Cup and the European Football Championship. In addition, Unilumin recently released a new concept of "software-defined big screen", leading the industry into the era of Wanping Internet of Things, and integrating the development of the industry into the tide of digital construction.
