Samsung Display Inc. announced on October 10 that it will invest 13.1 trillion won in development and mass production of next-generation QD Display technology by 2025. The investment in the production line is 10 trillion won and the investment in research and development is 3 trillion won. QD-OLED is a hybrid structure that converts color by using a blue OLED as the illumination source and using green and red QD on top. As China began to lead the LCD market, Samsung will use QD Display as the next generation technology to compete with Chinese manufacturers.

Luffy Lin, chief analyst of Wit Display, believes that Samsung Display will initially invest in the 8.5-generation QD-OLED production line, but as technology and yield increase, it may be built in the A5 factory like LGD. 5 generation QD-OLED production line.
