Company News >> BOE has qualified for the supply of flexible OLED screens for the iPhone 12th,March,2019
According to the Korean media etnews report, Chinese screen supplier BOE has obtained the qualification to supply flexible OLED screens for the iPhone. Prior to this, BOE passed the corresponding technology and finished product testing of Apple and was able to enter the supplier list.

But BOE takes a long time to deliver. Its flexible OLED screen needs to be submitted to Apple for a rigorous quality certification process in order to ultimately deliver.

The addition of BOE has also expanded the current OLED screen supplier of the iPhone to three. Among the three suppliers, Samsung has the largest market share in OLED screens, followed by LG. According to IHS Markit's report, Samsung accounted for 93.3% of the entire market during the three months from July to September 2018.

BOE has qualified for the supply of flexible OLED screens for the iPhone

For BOE, the recognition of Apple has shown its initial results on the OLED screen.

In 2017, BOE announced the mass production of the 6th generation flexible AMOLED production line, becoming China's first and the world's second fully flexible AMOLED production line.

This year, Huawei and Xiaomi launched a folding screen mobile phone or BAT flexible OLED panel from BOE. The B11/B12 product line supplied to Apple has higher requirements on the screen.

In the production cost control of flexible screens, BOE is expected to be lower than Samsung at the end of 2019.

According to data from the Supply Chain Consulting Corporation (DSCC), BOE lowered its unit production cost of its 6.39-inch QHD + AMOLED panel to $80 in the fourth quarter of 2018, while Samsung's production cost was $60. The production costs of the two companies are expected to be flat in the first quarter of 2019.

This year, folding screen mobile phones have become the arena of major manufacturers. Samsung will launch a folding screen mobile phone at the launch of the new machine on February 20 (February 21, Beijing time). Huawei and Nubia will launch their new folding screen mobile phone at MWC Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. In late February, a large number of new folding screen machines will be ushered in. This is a good for the upstream industry chain that produces flexible screens.
