Japan Display Corporation (JDI) has received official support from mainland China, intending to invest 500 billion yen (about NT$142.5 billion) in Zhejiang, launching the “Phoenix Project” for the construction of OLED panel factory, and with the Taiwan Touch Module Factory TPK-KY has formed an alliance to supply the OLED panels and touch modules required for the future iPhone, and to grab the iPhone's highest-end panel supply chain.
JDI is the main LCD panel supplier for the iPhone, but recently JDI has fallen into financial difficulties and is unable to invest in the current mainstream mobile OLED panel.
In order to solve the problem of new factory cover and working capital, Lu Media disclosed that about 20 people from JDI executives have called on Zhejiang Provincial Governor Yuan Jiajun to negotiate the "Phoenix Plan". In addition to Zhejiang's official funding and land assistance, China National Silk Corporation Road Fund, Harvest Fund Management, Minth Group, etc. will also participate in capital injection.
Previously, foreign media disclosed that TPK will participate in JDI and provide JDI financial assistance. TPK supplies related touch modules to break into the Apple supply chain.
