On September 27th, Samsung announced that it will provide a 7-inch OLED display for Audi's new electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Audi e-tron.
The Audi e-tron was released in mid-September and is the first electric vehicle to adopt a "virtual rearview mirror" in global production models. It is reported that the virtual rearview mirror uses a "side view" camera to replace the traditional side view mirror, and the Samsung OLED display is used for the imaging of the virtual rearview mirror. The display is located between the A-pillar and the corresponding front door. The driver can view the road condition on the back side through the display in real time, showing no delay.
According to Audi, the virtual rearview mirror helps to reduce the air resistance of the vehicle while giving a visual aesthetic.
