Samsung, LGD, and AUO have obtained licenses to build factories in the mainland, but because of the oversupply of the industry, the production schedule is far away. The two South Korean panel makers are evaluating the relocation production line to the mainland for production, but in the near future it is said that the future will not rule out the installation of OLED panel production lines directly in the mainland.

According to foreign reports, Samsung's first LCD panel factory in mainland China plans to convert to an OLED production line in 2015. Yoon Boo-keun, head of Samsung's consumer electronics division, said that the LCD TV market is saturated and that LCD TVs will be eliminated if they can't continue to make profits, and OLED TV is the best choice to drive market growth. Samsung believes that if the Suzhou panel factory is converted into an OLED panel factory, it will certainly be welcomed by the mainland government, because Samsung's OLED production capacity is the industry leader.

LGD also has a similar strategy. LGD's first 8.5-generation panel factory in Guangzhou, China will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on May 22. LGD is also considering shifting the focus of the Guangzhou plant to OLED panels, but LGD is targeting the notebooks to laptops and tablets, but everything depends on market conditions. As for OLED TV, the unit price is still high, and LG internal research shows that when the price of OLED TV falls to 1.3 to 1.4 times of LCD TV, it is attractive to consumers.

IDC analyst Xu Meiwen pointed out that LCD TV has come to the plateau period in the product life cycle, and the overall LCD TV market will maintain a single-digit annual growth rate in the future. As for the low base period of OLED TV, it will be three in the next few years. The number of jumps grows. Although Samsung and LG both released OLED TVs at the beginning of the year, because of the low yield, there has been no actual mass production. LGD is white light plus color filters. The difficulty is relatively low, and the fastest is expected in June. Mass production, as for the production schedule of Samsung OLED TV panels may be postponed to the third quarter.
