On February 29, the signing ceremony of the second phase of the 6th generation LTPS/AMOLED production line of BOE was held in Chengdu High-tech Zone. The reporter was informed at the signing ceremony that BOE increased the investment of the second phase by 24.5 billion yuan on the basis of the investment of 22 billion yuan. It is used to build the second phase of Chengdu's 6th generation LTPS/AMOLED production line to produce AMOLED flexible panels. It is understood that the total investment in the two phases will reach 46.5 billion yuan. After the project is fully completed, it is estimated that the annual sales revenue will reach 34 billion yuan.
BOE invests 24.5 billion yuan to produce AMOLED flexible panels in Chengdu
AMOLED is currently the most popular new display technology in the world. Compared with traditional liquid crystal panels, AMOLED has the characteristics of faster response, higher contrast, wider viewing angle and soft display.
According to data from industry consulting firm NPDDisplaySearch, it is estimated that by 2020, the annual compound growth rate of LTPS panel demand area will reach 19.7%, and the annual compound growth rate of AMOLED panel demand area will reach 52.3%. Including mobile phones, tablets, PCs and laptops, car display, wearable smart products, there is huge demand for LTPS and AMOLED display technology.
On May 8, 2015, the 6th generation LTPS/AMOLED production line project of Chengdu BOE officially started construction in the West Park of Chengdu High-tech Zone. According to the plan, the project will be built for 2 years and will be put into operation in 2017.
“Currently, it is the best time to expand production capacity and increase market share.” Chen Yanshun Chen Yanshun, president of BOE Technology Group, said that after the completion of the 6th generation LTPS/AMOLED production line project in Chengdu, BOE’s competitiveness in the global small and medium-sized high-end display market Will be greatly improved.
For the re-layout of Sichuan, Chen Yanshun said that this is mainly due to the integrity of Chengdu's electronic information industry chain, abundant talents, abundant labor resources, huge market capacity, good transportation and logistics conditions, and the development of optoelectronic display industry has unique advantages. “As early as 2007, BOE invested 4.5 billion yuan to build the 4.5th generation TFT-LCD project in Chengdu High-tech Zone. Together with the investment in the 6th generation LTPS/AMOLED production line, BOE’s investment in Sichuan totaled 51 billion yuan.”
The relevant person in charge of Chengdu High-tech Zone said that once the 6th generation LTPS/AMOLED project of BOE Chengdu is completed and put into production, it will further enhance the global market influence of “Chengdu Manufacturing” and become the standard bearer of China's independent intellectual property display products to participate in the global high-end industrial chain competition. Benchmarking.
It is reported that the photoelectric display is the industrial direction of Sichuan, Chengdu and Chengdu High-tech Zone. Only Chengdu High-tech Zone has gathered leading enterprises such as BOE, Shenzhen Tianma, China Optoelectronics, Foxconn, Dell, Lenovo, TCL, etc., forming a whole industrial chain from upstream raw materials, midstream display panels to downstream terminals. In addition, China Electronic Information Industry Group also announced that it will invest 28 billion yuan in the construction of the 8.5-generation panel production line project in Chengdu.
