Company News >> Analysis of AMOLED TV panel shipments in 2017-2023 31th,Oct,2018
IHS Markit said that as panel makers increasingly target the premium TV market, active matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) TV panel shipments are expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 42% from 2017 to 2023. In the year, shipments will exceed 10 million.

According to IHS Markit's large-size AMOLED technology and market report, as panel makers are increasingly targeting the premium TV market, it is expected that active matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) TV panel shipments will start at 42% in 2017. Growth rate (CAGR) will continue to grow, and by 2023, shipments will exceed 10 million.

Panel manufacturers are expanding their product lineup for the premium TV market, offering AMOLED TV panels with different image quality and price. However, according to IHS Markit analysis, the high manufacturing cost of AMOLED TV panels will still be a hindrance to the growth of shipments.

Jerry Kang, principal analyst of IHS Markit Display Research, said: "Lejin is the only AMOLED TV panel supplier to continue to increase ultra-high resolution (UHD) AMOLED shipments, and plans to stop full-height AMOLED TV panels in 2017. Mass production.""

“This shows that most TV brands have realized that AMOLED TVs will be more competitive in the premium TV market because the production cost of AMOLED TV panels is relatively high, and the market is even less sensitive to price than the high-end TV market. In 2017, 65-inch UHD TV panels will account for 48% of total AMOLED TV panel shipments.

According to IHS Markit's large-size AMOLED technology and market report, most AMOLED panel manufacturers are trying to develop an AMOLED panel manufacturing process using inkjet printing technology, which is considered to be a viable way to reduce production costs. However, the soluble luminescent materials used in this process can cause performance degradation, which is also a challenge for manufacturers.

Kang said: “Panel manufacturers are now working with a number of equipment and materials suppliers to develop and optimize the inkjet printing AMOLED panel manufacturing process. It is planned to use the inkjet printing technology to achieve mass production of AMOLED TV panels by 2019.”
