According to sources, LG Display decided to launch an OLED display in the new manufacturing plant P10 in Paju, and abandoned the production of large-size LCD monitors. Last month, LGD also signed a 10 billion won equipment purchase order with South Korea's evaporation equipment supplier YAS, and continued to add OLED investment.
Initially, LG Display plans to produce 10.5 generation LCDs at the new plant, but then turned the production line into an OLED production line. LGD made the above decision because of the rapid growth of Chinese panel companies and the negative impact of the global LCD market on the competitiveness of Korean companies, which led to the global LCD supply bottleneck.
LGD officials said the investment in the P10 was indeed delayed, but the company will soon decide on the matter and what manufacturing technology will be used. Part of the reason for the delay in the P10 investment is that the display giant has not yet decided whether to adopt inkjet printing technology.
Compared to conventional evaporation methods, inkjet printing technology enables organic materials to be deposited more evenly and accurately on glass sheets, but is still considered to be less mature. Mastering the core technology has mastered the future. It is crucial for anyone who can choose the best solution for the most important evaporation technology in OLED production lines.
