Company News >> Samsung's newly developed flexible OLED display passed UL test 27th,August,2018
Samsung Display has announced that its organic light-emitting diode (OLED)-based smart phone panel has been officially verified by the US Security Testing Laboratory (UL). Samsung Display said that in addition to being used in smartphones, the newly developed OLED display is expected to be used in other electronic products, such as car display consoles, mobile military equipment, portable game consoles and tablets for online learning.

Samsung said the newly developed flexible OLED panel has an indestructible substrate and a plastic overlay that is firmly adhered to it. Most of today's traditional flexible displays come with a glass cover that is easily broken.

Hojung Kim, general manager of Samsung Display's communications team, said: "The reinforced plastic cover window is especially suitable for portable electronic devices, not only because of its non-breakable properties, but also because it is very light, transparent and high similar to glass. Characteristics such as hardness."

According to the US Security Testing Laboratory (UL), the unbreakable display developed by Samsung Display has passed its rigorous real-time durability test based on military standards set by the US Department of Defense. Samsung's indestructible OLED panel continues to function normally after 26 consecutive drop tests from 1.2 meters above the ground and temperatures as high as 71 degrees Celsius and as low as -32 degrees Celsius. There is no damage to the sides or edges. Even in the subsequent 1.8-meter drop test (significantly higher than the US military standard), the new flexible OLED panel developed by Samsung is operating normally without any signs of damage.
