Smartphone manufacturers have also begun to compete for AMOLED displays.

Some insiders told the Southern Reporter that the darkening of the AMOLED display will be a problem. However, due to the good-looking fashion, most mobile phone manufacturers in China hope to get such a display. According to estimates by Jibang Consulting Optoelectronics Research Center, the long-term penetration rate of AMOLED mobile phones is expected to rise year by year. It is expected that the penetration rate will be close to 50% in 2020, and AMOLED is expected to become the mainstream technology of smart phones.

However, Samsung is almost in an absolute advantage in the current market share of AMOLED. According to market research firm IHS, the market size of small-size mobile OLED displays is $25 billion, while Samsung accounts for 97% of the market.

The huge demand for AMOLED displays by mobile phone brands has also brought huge opportunities to domestic panel companies. It is understood that at present, domestic BOE, Hehui, Visionox, Huaxing Optoelectronics, Tianma and other panel companies have layout. In October this year, BOE’s first domestic and global second flexible screen production line was mass-produced. At the delivery ceremony of the first batch of flexible screen products from BOE, Jingdong delivered this flexible display to more than ten domestic mobile phone manufacturers including Huawei, OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, ZTE and Nubia.

Tianma believes that domestic manufacturers gradually break the monopoly of OLED mass production, which means that domestic brand manufacturers such as Huawei, OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi will no longer rely on external procurement of screens, which will alleviate the supply shortage of OLEDs to some extent. At the same time, the independent supply of OLED panels has brought more development opportunities to domestic brand mobile phone manufacturers' independent design capabilities and new technology research and development applications. It is no longer controlled by foreign enterprise supply chains, bringing more advantages to Chinese brand mobile phones to the global market. In the next few years, it will be a strategic opportunity for the development of China's display panel industry and mobile phone industry.
