Company News >> China's first 8.5-generation OLED panel production line approved 12th,July,2018
South Korea's display panel maker LG Display officially announced that the investment plan for the establishment of the 8.5-generation OLED panel production line in Guangzhou, China has been approved by the China National Market Supervisory Authority.

This is China's first large-size OLED panel production line, and China will become the world's second OLED TV panel production base.

At the same time, this is the third production line established by LG Display in Guangzhou, China after the module factory and LCD production line. It is also the first large-size OLED panel production line established outside Korea.

It is reported that the total investment of the project is as high as about 5 trillion won (about 30 billion yuan). LG Display and Guangzhou Kaide Technology Development Co., Ltd. are jointly established in a 7:3 ratio. All approval procedures have been completed.

The new plant is expected to be completed and put into production in the second half of 2019. After mass production, it will have a monthly capacity of 60,000 glass substrates, up to 90,000 pieces, mainly for 55-77-inch 4K UHD ultra-HDTV.

At present, LG Display's E3 and E4 plants in Paju, South Korea have a monthly capacity of 70,000 pieces. Together with the Guangzhou plant, LG Display can produce up to 160,000 glass substrates per month.

LG Display is the only supplier in the world that can mass-produce large-size OLED panels, and it takes only three years from mass production to gold yield, and LCD has spent 10 years.

The sales volume of LG Display OLED TV panels in 2013 was only 200,000. In 2017, it exceeded 1.7 million. It is expected to exceed 3 million this year. The LG Display OLED business unit is expected to achieve profit for the first time in the second half of this year.

Compared with LCD, OLED is a self-illuminating display with no backlight and no liquid crystal. The material is lighter and thinner, and can realize diversified design. Perfect black and more accurate color performance can bring excellent image quality. Machine manufacturers favor.

At present, the OLED camp has expanded to 14 in the world, including major Chinese mainstream TV companies such as Hisense, Skyworth, Changhong and Konka.

The market research organization IHS predicts that China's OLED TV market will grow 115.5% in 2019, becoming the only region in the world with a growth rate of more than 100%, while Japan ranked second with only 64.7%.
