Company News >> The main new technology 2018 China OLED Investors 26th,Apr,2018
Currently, the OLED market is mainly divided into two major markets. The main screen is the television industry, while the small screen is the supply of mobile phones. In terms of large size, the current market demand is strong. According to Zhong Yikang’s forecast, the sales of OLED TVs in the Chinese market from 2017 to 2020 are expected to be 180,000 units, 550,000 units, 1.5 million units, and 2.5 million units, respectively.
The main new technology 2018 China OLED Investors
In order to increase the production capacity of OLED panels, by the end of 2017, LGDisplay has built a world-leading 8.5-generation OLED TV panel production line in Guangzhou at the end of 2017, with monthly production capacity of 60,000 units (based on glass substrates) and is expected to be produced in the second half of 2019. It is reported that this is the first overseas OLED panel production line after Korea’s homeland.
China's many funds will flow into the small-size OLED field
In terms of small size, neither Samsung nor LG currently have a clear production line expansion plan. Apple is re-evaluating the value of OLED screens, and the iPhone X does not create a disruptive experience with OLED screens. LTPS LCD screens are more cost-effective and display performance is not bad, so the development of small-size OLED screens may encounter twists and turns.
Judging from the current situation, in 2018, many mobile phone manufacturers are conservative in their small-size OLED screens. Not only does Apple re-evaluate the value of OLED screens, but currently brands such as Huawei, OPPO, and Xiaomi have no clear plans for OLED screen replacement.
Under such circumstances, Samsung and LG will not expand their production capacity with great fanfare. According to DisplaySupplyChainConsultants' forecast, the total investment in global display equipment in 2018 will be about 21 billion U.S. dollars, of which 18.9 billion U.S. dollars (88%) are from mainland China. The production capacity of traditional LCD panels is already large enough. For the transformation, many funds from China will flow into the small-size OLED field.
