Company News >> Is the elimination of LCDs a technological advancement or profiteering bunker? 13th,March,2018
Last week, Shenzhen Suning and ten of the most important TV manufacturers signed a contract called “Retiring ordinary LCD TVs and accelerating the promotion of energy-saving low-carbon and multi-color TV contracts.” It is not difficult to see from the contract’s name that this contract mainly plays. In the name of energy conservation, environmental protection, low carbon, and multi-functionality, the clean-up targets are directed at ordinary LCD TVs that have just been called “universal”. Another source said that GOME and Suning related personnel also said that if this move is successful in Shenzhen, it does not rule out the promotion of this action to the country's first-tier cities.

When the news came out, it caused widespread concern in the industry. Many consumers had doubts. Many consumers had such questions: “The price of LCD TVs has been so high before, and it has just fallen to the price that the people can afford. Are they outdated? Are the LED TVs they pushed really so good? After that, can't they buy regular LCD TVs?"
LED TVs began to be listed on a large scale last year. Under the heavy push of various manufacturers, they achieved good results in 2009, and the proportion of high-end products to the end of the year could reach over 60%. LED-backlit LCD TV slim body became the most important point to attract consumers, according to our store survey, more than half of consumers choose LED because of the ultra-thin body, but not the main reason for choosing LED is higher prices.
LED really can win LCD?

LCD imaging principle
Since manufacturers and Suning are the main players in LED elimination of LCDs, we naturally have to start with LED research. Since the launch of LED, it has been “blasted” by major manufacturers in the publicity, ultra-thin, energy-saving, and high-quality, as if LED Product omnipotent is a leap in LCD technology. But is this not the case?

RGB-LED backlight
We know that the imaging principle of LCD TV is to add liquid crystal molecules between two glass substrates. After the voltage is applied, the molecular arrangement changes in a zigzag manner. The screen collides with the electron group to create a picture and form a picture through the perspective reflection of external light. The liquid crystal panel itself does not emit light, so it is necessary to add a backlight source behind the liquid crystal panel to provide the desired brightness for imaging. The current mainstream LCD TVs use CCFL backlights, relying on condensing backlights for lighting, which is the LCD LCD TV mentioned in this article.
