LCD panel margins are getting lower and lower, South Korean panel makers have begun to shift to higher profits OLED, in addition to Samsung Electronics (Samsung Electronics Co.), LG Display is also actively expanding the TV, smart phones dedicated OLED panel capacity.
LG Display has begun to implement 1 trillion won (about 850 million US dollars) of the Korean plant investment plan, intended to pull the TV, smart phones with OLED production, the Korea Herald, Electronic Times 17 reported. The company also began ordering new equipment from Korean suppliers to plan the LCD panel production line in Paju P8 plant to produce TV OLED panels.
News, LG plans to pull up to 25,000 per month, it is estimated that this (2016) years of TV OLED panel monthly production will be on the exploration of 60,000, almost twice in 2015. In addition, LG Display also began to invest in flexible OLED panels, estimated investment reached 3,100 billion won.
A LG Display spokesman denied that the LCD panel will be significantly reduced, claiming that the LCD panel will be transferred to the Guangzhou plant manufacturing, so the total production will not be much change.
