February 16, Corning Corporation (GLW) is located in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area of liquid crystal display (LCD) glass substrate factory officially put into operation.
The new plant is Corning's second LCD glass facility in mainland China, offering 8.5+ glass substrates for the company's customers. Corning also has a 8.5-generation LCD glass factory in Beijing.
"Chongqing's IT and LCD industry in China has an important strategic position.With the establishment of the factory in Chongqing, we can realize the localization of the glass supply and provide the area in the region," said Zhang Zheng, General Manager of Corning Display Technology Department, in the production activities. Technology and manufacturing support for Chinese panel manufacturers to provide better services, especially in Southwest China 's customers.
With the support of the Chongqing municipal government and local leaders, Corning announced in June 2015 that it would invest in a new LCD glass plant in Chongqing Shuangjiang New Area Water and Soil Hi-Tech Industrial Park.
In today's production activities, Corning Greater China president and general manager Li Fang said: "Chongqing factory production marks our deepening of China's business operations has taken an important step.
