Market research firm iSuppli predicts that large-size LCD panels, including 10-inch or larger LCD panels, will grow by 17.7 percent in 2008 and revenue will grow by 19.9 percent.The research company said the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games will stimulate market demand, and will encourage buyers to choose a higher grade of products. Nevertheless, the 2008 LCD panel shipments and revenue growth rate will be far below the 2007 level.
Specifically, iSuppli expects global large-size TFTLCD panel shipments in 2008 to reach 458.9 million units, up 17.7 percent from 388.8 million units in 2007. However, this growth rate is lower than the 38.9% growth rate in 2007.
ISuppli said that in the United States dollars in 2008, the world's large-size TFTLCD panel sales will reach 88.9 billion US dollars, compared with 74.1 billion US dollars in 2007 increased by 19.9%. By 2012, sales of large-size TFTLCD panels worldwide are expected to grow from $ 74.1 billion in 2007 to $ 120.7 billion, a compound annual growth rate of 10.2%.
