Company News >> SDI and Clairvoyante to develop wVGA OLED display 21th,Mar,2017
Samsung SDI (Samsung SDI) will use Clairvoyante, Inc.'s PenTile sub-pixel rendering technology to produce the first high-resolution active matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) display. By integrating into Clairvoyante's PenTile RGB technology, Samsung SDI can develop the first wVGA (480 x 800) OLED PenTile RGB display for handheld devices to address the high-resolution OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) production in terms of manufacturing and performance Difficult to solve the challenge.
The first wVGA OLED display size is 3.0 inches, will optimize the emerging applications including handheld web browser, GPS and video development, these applications require very fine display and easy to read the screen. Samsung SDI OLED technology can produce the industry's thinner package for mobile device applications, and has excellent display of energy-efficient display.
Currently, the maximum available OLED for display format is qVGA (240 x 320). Until now, OLED manufacturers have been faced with the challenge of maintaining a handheld device market with the necessary service life and performance at the same time to produce a better format than qVGA display. PenTile technology accomplishes performance improvements by reducing 1/3 of the subpixels while maintaining the same display resolution.
The future of OLED technology is expected to be strong, Samsung SDI recently invested to expand production capacity to meet new needs. Industry research firm Display Search is also optimistic about the technology, AM OLED market is expected to grow from $ 2.205 billion in 2007 to 5.58 billion US dollars in 2011. Samsung since August 2002 has been in the production of OLED display, used in car audio, video games and MP3 players, and recently applied to the phone.
